Tactics

All non-Ronin Ninja have the following traits and abilities:

  • Camouflage (2)
    • This really defines the game play and style of the warband. Being un-targetable by the majority of your opponent’s models unless they get within your easy strike range is a huge bonus and why you need to place your terrain pieces very smartly as well as bring the ability to generate some of your own when required.
  • Assassin
    • Basically the Strong trait but only when you also benefit from surprise, which should be pretty much every time you choose to engage in melee because you really want your attacks to either take out or disable your target in one go, and the majority of ninja do not do amazingly well when having a straight up duel.
    • Also works on your ranged weapons so even a long ranged shot that benefits from surprise can have a good chance of doing a chunk of damage.
  • Lightfooted
    • All passable terrain is easy for the ninja clan. Leap over small walls and through difficult terrain without any trouble, fantastic for striking from cover or getting back into it to protect from other nearby opponents.
  • Sidestep Defence
    • Really useful on Tireless and non-Agile models to ensure that they do not get overwhelmed by outnumbering, or bogged down and unable to perform scenario objectives. Much needed!
