Background
A lot could be said for the subterranean races’ savage and cruel practices however their ability to adapt and change based on the environment and resources available cannot be ignored, their resourcefulness is something to be admired when considering the scarcity of materials offered in the dark places they claim as their own.
Now with the world in turmoil, ravaged by war, the bakemono tribes pick the battlefields clean like maggots at a wound. This has led to the advancements of the Prefecture being turned against them.
The boomers are one such example of this, two brave and possibly a little stupid bakemono eagerly working the famous Ryu arquebus to deadly effect.

In-Game
Boomers are a very effective area-control piece, especially in a Bakemono Horde. Their Arquebus has very large (6") Short and Medium Range bands, ignores most Armour, and combos extremely well with, "Darkness," and, "Shadow Walk," to get off devastating Surprise attacks. Boomers punch above their weight, but require an escort to keep the enemy from tying them up in melee.
It is important to distinguish the Boomer from the Archer. The Boomer is lethal and reliable, and your opponent will work to remove the Boomer as quickly as they can. Also, the Boomer CANNOT be brought on using, "Summon from the Shadows." Conversely, the Archer is flexible and opportunistic, and its performance will vary. Also, the Archer is more readily disposable.
Strengths
- Largely ignore the negatives of Cowardly, as they're rarely in melee anyways. This makes them a good way of dealing with Fear
- Great for countering Armour and very consistent in dealing damage, which makes them pretty unique in the Bakemono roster
- You should be able to Surprise Attack your enemy using Camouflage, "Darkness," and "Shadow Walk." Boomers can absolutely one-shot an enemy model if played right
- Awesome at board control if placed properly
- Can use, "Shadow Walk," to be placed in Short Range of the enemy without counting as moving
Weaknesses
- Awful Melee Skill, so they need to stay away from combat or be screened by other models (Bakemono Raiders and Spearmen are recommended for this role)
- Not Horde thus CANNOT be brought on with, "Summon from the Shadows"
